Valued ADT Client
In a recent incident in Linden, a client opened the door for three men claiming to be ADT Reaction Officers. Once inside, they tied her up and stole various items. The suspects claimed they were responding to a panic activation and when the client said she hadn't pressed her panic, they said they have to come inside to check the alarm system.
ADT Reaction Officers will never enter the house to check on a technical fault. They will inform the client to log a service call. They will also never have any other individuals with them when responding to an activation.
How to recognise an ADT Reaction Officer: - All ADT Reaction Officers carry a branded ID card with their name, PSIRA number and a photograph. They also carry a PSIRA card which includes their photograph.
- They will be driving an ADT-branded vehicle, a Nissan NP200.
- They will have official epilates on their shoulders.
- They will be wearing a bullet proof vest.
- A highly distinguishing item is the black Kevlar helmet worn by ADT Reaction Officers at all times when they are not in their vehicle.
Security tips: - Don't allow strangers onto your property or into your house, no matter what they claim their business is.
- Educate your domestic staff about the dangers of opening the gate to strangers.
- If you are approached by a security or police officer it is important that you ask for and are shown formal identification.
- It is better to be safe than sorry. If you feel something is out of place, report it to the SAPS or ADT immediately.
